Summer Event Recaps

July 23, 2008
By Dan Appino of Boylan Catholic High School

  • Boylan's varsity lineman handily won the fourth annual Harlem Big Man Competition on June 18th over 11 other area schools. The Titans finished with an overall score of 59 points (Harlem finished second with 34 points). Team members included Jeff Marrs (winner of SUV push), Ryan Lamoureux, Justin Janicke (bench press winner), Nate Fischer, and Dom DeMarco. The Titans finished first in the SUV push, bench press, sled push, and 40 yard dash.
  • Boylan's skill players competed at Stillman Valley HS in a 7 on 7 scrimmage on Tuesday, June 24th. The Titans won the match 4-2 with Zack Lane throwing TD passes to Will Sahlstrom (2), Bruce Eshelman, and Ryan Knodle. Shane Zackery and Connor Martensen had multiple receptions as well. Lane did not throw an interception while the Titan defense manged 3 picks of their own via Jake Ghinazzi and Eshelman (2).
  • Special thanks to the following athletes who volunteered their time to move a single mom in the Boylan family from an apartment to a home: Mike Land, Shane Laga, Mike Burnett, Tyler Hanfeld, and Zack Smith. Your help was much appreciated.
